Alphonse Mucha 2012 Calendar (Wall Calendar) Details
Propelled into instant fame after his innovative poster for Sarah Bernhardt's 1894 production of Gismonda, Alphonse Mucha (Czech, 1860–1939) went on to commercial success. Before the poster, Mucha had been a capable illustrator and painter who kept what he considered his “real” art safely in the Academic mode. After the poster, he worked prolifically in his new style, producing sumptuous advertisements for many of the goods we now associate with the era—bicycles, Champagne, cigarettes. This calendar presents a dozen beautiful examples of “le style Mucha,” which has come to epitomize the Art Nouveau style of turn-of-the-century Paris.Size: 12 x 13 in.; opens to 12 x 26 in. Printed on FSC certified paper with soy-based inks.
