The Haunted Realm 2006 Calendar Details
From the very beginning of recorded time all the great civilizations of our world have believed in the supernatural in some form or other. Simon Marsden’s startlingly atmospheric black and white infrared photographs reveal this hidden world and his ghostly and beguiling images transport the reader to a different realm; a haunted realm. Accompanying the photographs is text which describes the apparitions that have been reported at each site, and the strange and often macabre real-life events which are said to lie behind them. Simon Marsden is an internationally acclaimed photographer, whose work can be found in the Getty Museum in California and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. His books include The Haunted Realm, Phantoms of the Isles, Journal of a Ghosthunter and Twilight Hour.Partial Caption: Duntroon Castle The castle, dominating a rock promontory on the north side of Loch Crinan, belonged to the powerful Clan Campbell in the seventeenth century. At this time, a rival chieftain known as "Left-handed Coll Macdonnell" had a personal score to settle with the Campbells of Duntroon and, having ravaged their lands, sent his personal piper to spy on the castle. The disguised piper was welcomed by the Campbells and he in turn entertained his hosts. Several days passed and his inordinate interest in the castle’s defenses aroused the Campbell’s suspicions, so they imprisoned him in a turret room.
